The Constitution of The Orpington Club of Australia (INCORPORATED) (OCA) 2014
1. The Club shall be called “ The Orpington Club Of Australia”2. The objects shall be– to advance and encourage the breeding, improvement and honourable exhibition of this special breed of poultry.3. The Financial Year of the Club shall be from 1st MAY to the 30th of APRIL of the following year.4. Seven (7) financial members present will constitute a quorum for a general meeting5. Any person of good character may become a member of the Club if properly proposed by a Financial member and accepted by the members present at the AGM and on the payment of the annual subscription set annually at the AGM; provided that for Juveniles under 16 the subscription shall be 50% of the annual subscription; each member of a partnership shall pay the full annual subscription rate.6. Members are only financial for the year in which an annual subscription is paid. Members must renew annually to receive member benefits. Subscriptions paid by new members after the 1st JANUARY will expire on 30th APRIL the following year’ 7. All Office Bearers shall retire at the commencement of each AGM but will be eligible for re-election.8. Any Office Bearer absenting themselves from three (3) consecutive meetings without apologies the position will deemed to be vacant.9. The following office bearers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting- President, 2 Vice Presidents, Secretary/Treasurer , a Show Secretary, Auditor and a Public Officer.10. The Management committee shall consist of the President, the Secretary/Treasurer and one other.11. The Management committee shall have the power to call meetings of the club as often as they may be required; to fix the place of a meeting; to introduce any new feature of interest compatible with the objects of the Club generally. The elected Management Committee will meet as often as required.12. At the Annual General Meeting, it shall be competent for any two members (one as mover one as seconder) to propose alterations to The Rules but notice of such intention must be provided to the Secretary either in writing or electronically at least 21 days before the date of the said meeting.13. Only Financial members shall be eligible to vote at the annual meeting. All decisions will be approved on a simple majority unless otherwise stated in these general rules14. The current version of the ‘Australian Poultry Standards’ is considered to be the Clubs standard for judging purposes. Where a variety is not covered in the APS the secretary will obtain a suitable standard from other sources.15. Any member found guilty of any practice considered unworthy of a Club member, or against the interests of the Club, may be suspended or disqualified by a 75% majority vote at any general meeting where this matter is brought forward for decision. Any member so affected is to be advised within 14 days by registered mail. An appeal may be lodged within 14 days of the receipt of such notice. This will be heard by the Management committee who have the executive powers to hear and determine the appeal and then report their findings back to the next General meeting16. At all Club Shows the following to apply; Only those colours standardised in the Australian Poultry Standards are eligible for major awards or those colours which meet the Approved Colour Process as outlined in the Club ByLaw 1. Special Awards may be made to any other variety sanctioned by the Club. Separate variety classes will be provided where there are four or more entries for a distinct variety.

At its AGM of 9th June 2012 the updates to the Clubs Constitution were approved effective immediately. These changes from the 1985 version are highlighted by the underlined words in this version.At the AGM of 22nd June 2013 the update to the Clubs Constution in Section 16 was approved with immediate effect.
